SCOPE: Turnkey supply of a new furnace

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • 29% increase in line production
  • High energy efficiency
  • Accurate control of furnace temperature and atmosphere

THERMAL INPUT:
7.03 MW within a heating length of 9550 mm

OPERATING TEMPERATURES: 850-1250°C

EXCESS AIR CAPABILITY: From 10 to 40%

TEMPERATURE UNIFORMITY:
+/- 10°C across the width of the strip

NUMBER OF ZONES: 2

 

BURNERS:
4 pairs of Hotwork Low NOx 60/80 Regenerative Ceramic Burners (RCB) rated at 1758 kW each

FUEL: Natural gas

CONTROL SYSTEM:
PLC-based, for automatic start-up, supervision and changeover sequencing, and control of oxygen content and heat input

Phase 2, December 1995:

SCOPE: Increase thermal capacity by adding a new zone rated at 4.16 MW

BURNERS:
3 pairs of Hotwork EJ18 E-Jet Ultra Low NOx Regenerative Burners rated at 1680 kW each

ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • NOx level < 240 mg/m3 @ 3% O2 against 500 mg/m3 @ 3% O2 guaranteed
  • Further 20% increase in line production
